Skytree view from Azuma Bridge, Asakusa
From Azuma Bridge and the riverside promenade beside it you get Tokyo Skytree, the Sumida River and the gold Asahi building in one view. It is free and open all the time, a few minutes' walk from Asakusa Station — and there is no single best spot, so walk along the river.

“I don't remember what time I took my photos, but this place is good at any time. And there isn't just one spot to stand — walk along the river and you can enjoy the view from lots of different angles.”
Why is this view famous?
Azuma Bridge (Azumabashi) is the red bridge at the east end of Asakusa. Look across it and you see three things at once: Tokyo Skytree, the Sumida River, and the gold “flame” on the Asahi Beer building. It is one of the easiest big-city views in Tokyo — free, open all the time and a few minutes from Senso-ji.
When should you go?
Whenever you’re nearby. I honestly don’t remember what time I took my photos, and that is the point: this view works morning, afternoon and night. After dark the bridge and Skytree are lit, which makes a nice end to an evening visit to the temple.
Where should you stand?
Don’t look for one “right” spot. Walk along the riverside promenade on the Asakusa side and onto the bridge itself, and the view changes every few steps — the Skytree lines up with the bridge, the river boats or the Asahi building depending on where you are.
Getting there
Walk east from Kaminarimon to the river; the bridge is at the end of the street. Asakusa Station’s exits are right beside the river.
Nearby
The Asakusa water bus leaves from the pier next to the bridge, and Sumida Park runs north along the river. Cross the bridge and keep walking to reach Tokyo Skytree. This is also the last stop on my 2-hour Asakusa route.
